    Good seeing you again for Education 633. Once again, look forward to learning with you over the next eight weeks. It sounds like you were very busy taking three classes and teaching six. My guess is that you did not have time to take a trip to Florida! God bless, Brad

    Paul,

    I think that you have a great grasp on what you want to do with educational technology. I would personally state that I think that you did not teach 6 classes this summer. I look forward to what you are going to contribute to the class this term and this should be great.

    I actually did teach 6 classes this summer, 4 online and 2 in person. We have two Summer sessions at my college, and I taught three courses in each one. Two days after the second session ended, I flew to Florida for a well-deserved vacation. I only took 2 online classes this summer (EDUC 630 and 631). I'm taking 2 more this Fall. I am lucky to work for a great college that will reimburse faculty for taking up to 4 courses each year.

Cognitivism Theory Blog

Cognitive learning theory views the mind of the learner like a computer.  The learner should receive a variety of sensory inputs while they experience, process, and catalog the information.  Students are repeatedly exposed to the material until they are able to permanently acquire the new knowledge.  One of the major strengths of cognitive learning theory is the efficiency with which material can be covered.  This is particularly important for courses in STEM fields where a large amount of critical information must be mastered.  The efficiency of cognitive learning is viewed by some as a negative due to the stifling of individual student creativity.  Opponents of cognitive learning theory argue that students are not computers to be programmed and that there should be more active engagement in the learning process.  However, this is an oversimplified criticism.  Under cognitive learning theory, students do not just memorize facts.  They take i...
